A Sublime Mustique Afternoon

A Sublime Mustique Afternoon

A Sublime Mustique Afternoon – As the weather take a turn towards autumn here in the UK I thought I’d post this lovely warm image for y’all. The golden afternoon light was bathing the swimming pool at Firefly Mustique and this was a simple snap.

You can see a folio of Caribbean images at: https://www.colinanthony.com/folio/caribbean-folio/ If you want to have a swim in the pool you can go to: https://www.fireflymustique.com
to find out more.

Note for 2021: If you didn’t take my advice and go to Firefly, it’s now too late I’m afraid. The owners retired and the hotel has closed. All we have now are the beautiful memories…

15 years of Parkrun

15 years of Parkrun

Today is the 15th anniversary of the Parkrun. By coincidence, I just completed my 15th 5k Parkrun. (No cheeky, that’s not 1 per year, over 15 years. That’s 15 over the last 18 weeks!).
As it’s free to run they ask for volunteers to help, and this help includes being a photographer.

Afternoon surprise!

Afternoon surprise!

Jo and I were taking an autumn stroll in Richmond Park this afternoon. It was very changeable weather, with the afternoon sun in and out, and the rain stopping and starting. We happened upon this delightful trio of huge mushrooms. I’m not a specialist, so I can’t tell you what variety they are, but they were about 30cm high.

Dolly Beach at sunset

Dolly Beach at sunset

Dolly Beach has always been the bridesmaid and never the bride. There are so many spectacular beaches on Mustique that it rarely gets a look in. Earlier in the year we lucky enough to be on Mustique. On this particular evening Jo and I were walking along Dolly Beach, as the sun was setting, and captured this calm view of an almost cloudless still, evening.

I thought you might like to see a new image from Richmond Park from our walk in the last Sunday. The early autumn has just started to turn the leaves brown as the sun peeked through the branches and the young deer were feeding in the shade of the oak.

“The Inverse Square Law” – YouTube Masterclasses – Caveat Emptor

“The Inverse Square Law” – YouTube Masterclasses – Caveat Emptor

“The Inverse Square Law” – YouTube Masterclasses – Caveat Emptor – Recently, I’ve been trawling YouTube, looking at the advice that is available to people who are looking to improve their photography. There’s some great information out there, but there’s also a raft of hollow tutorials, and the usefulness varies greatly.

I stumbled upon a video that was an interview with a well-known, online photo educator. The discussion was interesting and thoughtful. It contained many aspects of photographic technique and kit. In passing, the discussion touched upon the “Inverse Square Law” (ISL), and the importance of understanding it, as it applies to lighting for photography.
I thought that was interesting, as I hadn’t looked at it since college, so I thought I’d brush up, and do some research, by looking at some tutorials on YouTube with fresh eyes…
