The serene Buddha in our garden
This is the buddha in our garden. I found him in Bali and persuaded him to come and sit in our garden in Kingston upon Thames in London. He has been meditating under the Acer tree for many years now. He is a constant reminder for me to make time to be mindful, in search of metta, my own bodhicitta, and ultimately nirvana.
It took an Indonesian craftsman around eleven months to carve him from a river pebble. The man who looked after him before me lives in Bali. He kindly boxed him up and shipped him to the UK.
I shot this on a still sunny day. He was the perfect sitter. You won’t be surprised to know that there was no movement during the exposure. I shot it on my Sony A7R Mk3 with a FE70-200 f2.8 GM Lens
